Mother's Day stats
Americans will spend an average of $123.89, compared with last year's $138.63. Total Mother's Day spending is expected to reach $14.10 billion -- slightly more than for Easter -- but almost $2 billion less than last year. The majority of consumers (66.8 percent) will buy flowers for Mom, while 54.8 percent will treat her to a special dinner or brunch.About one-third (30.2 percent) of shoppers are expected to purchase Mom's gift from a discount store; 27.2 percent will visit department stores.
